Prof. T.D Kemparaju, Professor, Dept of Library & information Science, Bangalore University, Bangalore and currently Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru North University.

Academic and professional background:

Prof. T.D Kemparaju was born on 10. 06.1957. He completed BSc degree in 1975 and Masters Degree course in Library Science 1980 from University of Mysore, Mysore. He has completed his Ph.D degree from Bangalore University in 1989.

 

Prof. T.D Kemparaju, started his career as Lecturer in Library and information Science in 1981 from Bangalore University and elevated to the post of Professor in 2002. He has 37 year of teaching experience and 32 years of research experience credit. He has guided 09 Ph.D students and another 08 students are currently pursuing research under his guidance.

 

Research project publications:

 He has completed to major research projects funded by UGC and Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO)
he has published over 62 research papers in various national and international journals and conference proceedings and chaired several technical sessions and delivered over 15 key note presentation at various National / International conference and seminars apart from chairing various technical sessions at National / International conference.

 

 

Administrative positions held:


Prof.T.D.Kemparaju has served in various administrative positions such as:
a. Professor and Chairman, Dept. of Library and Information Science,
Bangalore University, Bangalore-over 12 years.
b. Director, Planning, Monitoring and evaluation Board(PMEB), Bangalore
University- 4 years
c. Director, Directorate of Correspondence course & Distance Education,
Bangalore University, Banglore-3 years.
d. Registrar, Bangalore University, Bangalore- 2012-2013.
e. Registrar, Mangalore University, 2015-16.

 

Chairman & Member of Committees:

Prof. T.D Kemparaju has served in different capacities discharging various academic and administrative responsibilities in effective manner. He was the head / Chairman of Department of Library & Information Science for 10 years, Chairman of BOS, BOE etc for over 12-14 years in Bangalore University

 

He has also served as Chairman, Statute review committee and Member of over 10 different Committees constituted by the University such as fees review committee, NAAC, Admission guidelines, implementation of Semester Scheme at UG/PG level, Indian Science Congress, Co-ordinator UGC-NET Programme, RUSA, Salary rationalisation Committee etc. Served as NAAC team member.

 

He was also Chairman and member of BOS and BOE of over 15 different Universities of the country and also served as member of Board of Appointment (BOA) of several Universities

 

Prof. T.D Kemparaju, has also served as member of Standing Committee of Department of Public Libraries, Government of Karnataka; Member Board Recruitment of Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Government of India; Member, Board of Examination, KPSC, Government of Karnataka; SelectionCommittee member of NAL, ISRO and Security Board Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi, Government of India are a few to mention.

Served as Member of Committee for Review and Assessment of PrivateUniversities, Karnataka State, Also served on expert committee member of “New Education Policy”, MHRD, Government of India.

 

Abroad visits:

Prof. T.D Kemparaju has visited several Universities such as peeking University, Beejing, China; National University, Singapore; Mahasarkham University, Bangkok, Thailand; National Open University, Bangkok; KonkainUniversity, Konkain, Thailand on academic and research assignments.

 

Role in corporate life:

He also served as president, Bangalore University Teachers Council; Secretary, Federation of University Teacher Association of Karnataka State; President of Indian Association of Teachers of Library & Information Science; Secretary of Indian Association of Teachers of Library & information and President of Karnataka State Library Association.
